One of the key boxing cards of the 20th Century is the very scarce card #86 of German boxer Max Schmeling from the 1956 Topps Adventure set, which was pulled from circulation early due to the very apparent use of the Nazi swastika logo. While desirable in its own right, what makes this example special is this Schmeling card is attached to the even more scarce advertising card. This 5.375x6.5" card states this is an "EXCITING ADVENTURE CARD SERIES" for which a young child could receive one card and one piece of bubble gum for 1c. The Schmeling card grades EX/MT, but does have the staple holes. These salesman sample cards were standard fare for promoting a new series to store owners, but were usually tossed away. To locate a very scarce saleman's sample card from this issue, with an attached card of the scarce Max Schmeling card is the perfect, but very difficult combination, one would be highly desirable for the boxing collector.
