The only one like it ever given. As this magnificent award would indicate, the Patrick family rates as hockey royalty. Their legacy began with brothers Lester and Frank Patrick, who founded the Pacific Coast Hockey Association and in many respects pioneered the game itself. The two enjoyed fruitful careers as both players and executives, and were instrumental to the growth and popularization of the sport. Lester, in particular, had such a profound impact on the game that an entire division was named in his honor, and a prestigious award given annually continues to bear his name. The proud lineage continued with his son, Joseph Lynn Patrick, who kept up the family business with distinction, and was even a posthumous recipient of the Lester Patrick Trophy in 1989. Lynn Patrick is also the father of Craig Patrick, to whom this award was given to commemorate their collective place in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Easily one of the nicest trophies we have ever handled, it stands a formidable 21" tall with a 6x6" heavy, marble base. The Generations Trophy is as substantial as the Patricks' lasting impact, weighing in at a robust 30 lbs., with the sturdy base supporting what appears to be swirling brass flames. Each side of the base is engraved with a different member of the four aforementioned Patricks, with the inscription "Generations Patrick Family Hall of Fame" surrounding the NHL shield, as well as their name and year they were inducted (Lester Patrick 1947, Frank Patrick 1958, Joseph Lynn Patrick 1980, Craig Patrick Nov. 12, 2001). It is in EX-MT to NM condition and a joy to behold. One of the more important hockey trophies extant.
