An impressively old lithograph, this presents very well with bold colors, contrast and detail. Showing images of the top 18 jockeys of the late 19th century embedded in a horseshoe design, it features riders: Wood, Cannon, Fordham, Morbey, Loates, Morgan, Rossiter, Lemaire, Osborne, MacDonald (thrown off Buchanan at Liverpool and died from injuries Nov 12, 1881), Goater, Snowden, Luke, Gallon, Fagan, Barrett, and Webb. A huge portrait of Fred Archer in the middle alludes to his dominant reign and status. Archer was a jockey in England, winning Championship Jockey honors for 13 consecutive years before taking his life in 1886 at the age of 29. Framed to 27.5x35", it has a few minor small pinholes that are barely noticeable, in EX condition overall. Frame has some cracks in the wood and separation of the seams.
