April 17, 1951, is a date with exceptional meaning for the New York Yankees franchise. Not only was it the first game legendary public address announcer Bob Sheppard ever worked, it even more notably marked the debut of the "Commerce Comet." Playing right field and wearing #6, Mickey Mantle cut his teeth in the House That Ruth Built, and this program shows Mantle in the lineup. Since the publication was issued for two games against the rival Red Sox, the second game of the series displays a different lineup from what Baseball Almanac reflects. Both the program and Baseball Almanac lineup have Mickey Mantle for the first game, thus making April 17, 1951, Mickey Mantle's first game. The program is unscored and in EX-MT condition.
