The W517 cards, while technically a "strip" card, present much better than the crude drawing strips from a decade earlier. These large cards, measuring approximately 3x4", feature actual black and white and sepia-tinted photographic images, many never before seen on other card issues. They were distributed in strips of three, are very scarce pre-war representations, with high grade examples extremely rare. Of the 1,200 total examples graded and encapsulated by PSA, only 29 cards have been granted PSA MINT 9 status (2.3%) and 107 cards have been classified as PSA NM-MT 8 (8.9%). Not a single example has graded PSA GEM MINT 10. The difficulty with this issue is their large size and the fact cards needed to be cut from the panels. This lot of five (5) cards of Joe Judge, Bill Sherdel, Bill Shore, George Earnshaw, and Cy Williams are all graded PSA NM-MT 8, with most being high end examples bordering on MINT condition. The Shore, Earnshaw and Judge grades are the highest at PSA, with none higher, while the Williams has one higher and the Sherdel has two higher. Tremendous starter lot for the pre-war set builder who would like to embark on a new challenge.
