In 1954, a year after the Braves moved from Boston to Milwaukee, Scott Douglas, Inc. signed many of the Braves' players to exclusive contracts for the use of player pictures and autographs. Issued in 1954 was a set of 4-7/8" round heavy felt patches with player portraits and facsimile autographs. Originally, only 10 players were known in this issue, with those ten being the same players as in the 12-picture portrait set, with the exception of Jim Pendleton and Bobby Thomson, who were later reported to have been found. While surviving examples of these "BIG LEAGUE AUTOGRAPH EMBLEMS" are rare and command hundreds of dollars each, known examples of patches in their original cellophane wrapping (with advertising paper included) are non-existent...until now. Offered are three examples, including the very scarce Pendleton and Thomson emblems, still in their original packaging. The felt emblems are obviously MINT as are the advertising papers included. A tremendous opportunity to acquire a very scarce Milwaukee Braves collectible.
