The 1973 Topps baseball set is certainly one of the toughest sets to locate in high grade, with the key card in the set being #615, the Mike Schmidt Rookie Card, which is part of the scarce high number series. As usual, the 1973 high numbers were produced in much fewer quantities, as by then the fall leaves were settling on the ground and football was the sport of choice for young boys. It is difficult to locate unopened material from this year, with wax and cello packs being in short supply and thus, high demand. What is even tougher to locate are rack packs from this year, especially high number rack packs. Offered is an extremely scarce 1973 Topps High Number rack pack, one which could possibly have that key Mike Schmidt Rookie Card inside. We had heard there were racks containing high numbers, but also containing lower numbers, too, a sure sign the high number cards were produced in fewer quantities and cards were mixed to get rid of excess low number inventory. However, a complete rack pack containing 54 high number cards is a rare sight to behold, with this example one of the few we currently know to exist. The rack has the original clear seal all round, tight and without any cracks or tears. The header cards indicate these are "NEW trading cards" and would get "54 cards ONLY 39c". The 54 cards comprise 41% of the total 132 high number cards, and this rack might also contain the cherished Schmidt Rookie card, but also the Bob Boone and Dwight Evans rookies, several scarce and popular team cards or maybe even another Mike Schmidt rookie. With 132 cards in the entire high number series, and 54 cards in this rack pack, there is almost a 50% chance a Mike Schmidt rookie card could be inside. This is an extremely scarce rack pack of all 1973 Topps high number cards - a truly scarce rack, possibly one-of-a-kind.
