Going to the local candy store in the early 1970s during spring and summer brought a monthly new adventure for the young baseball fan. As Topps Gum Company was always trying out new products, each trip to the store might reveal a new baseball/gum product. During the 1973 season, Topps distributed "Candy Lids," which were small tubs of small gum pieces, similar to colored rocks. These baseball tubs included a lid which had a picture of the best players at the time. While the lids were collected and saved, the tubs wee usually tossed in the trash can. However, if you wanted to collect a tub (or two...or 164!) we have what you need! Offered is a lot of 164 tubs, and while no check-listed player is on the sides, there are two baseball player images (one looks like Don Drysdale) in addition to "Baseball Stars Bubble Gum" printed on each side. Each tub is in Near Mint or better condition, complete with wax sides and nary a crushed side is evident. Tremendous and rarely seen Topps baseball novelty item with the winner surely cornering the market for this collectible.
