The radio voice of the Yankees for decades and later the TV voice for "This Week in Baseball," Mel Allen was the most recognizable and most prominent sportscaster for decades, earning numerous honors. One such distinction was this 1.75" award presented to him by TV-Radio Mirror Magazine. The front reads: "TV-Radio Mirror, Magazine Award" with a microphone relief. The back is engraved: "Mel Allen, Favorite TV Sportscaster, 1954-55" and "14k" is stamped on the back. The one-of-a-kind artifact is in NM condition and was once loaned to the National Museum of American Jewish History in 2014 to be displayed in the "Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American" exhibit. Loaned and owned by Peter Horvitz, author of "The Big Book of Jewish Baseball". How 'bout that?
