Three titans of the Golden Age of sports intersect in this incredibly rare and important signed photograph: Tim Mara, the visionary who took a flyer on a $500 bet in buying a risky New York professional football franchise into ultimately a billion dollar payoff; Joe Carr, the father figure who grabbed the APFL by its bootstraps and shook it until it morphed into the monolith known as the N-F-L; and Jack Dempsey, whose fists wielded the power of a god yet charmed the world into making him an international icon. This piece was one of the showcase attractions of one the most startling discoveries of the 21st century: The Joe Carr Find. Football relics worthy of Canton or any of the great museums of the world were saved from the dumpster in the nick of time. Signature is bold and true, gracing the white frame of the piece to create a state of perfection with regards to contrast. In jet black fountain pen ink, it reads, "To my friend Joe Carr, Tim Mara." Small amount of water staining on bottom edge can easily be overlooked considering the one-of-a-kind and pantheon historical status here. Image itself measures 8x10". Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from JSA.
