Spectacular all-original pair of cast-iron figural andirons has 100% paint. This is the black version, depicting a period baseball pitcher and batter. Verso is incised in the mold "RBS/09" for the initials of the artist and the year 1909. These are highly prized in the antique world and sets have long been sought after by folk art collectors and selling in auction for $15,000-20,000. Includes the tough to find pair of original connector pieces that the players stand on, made of cast iron and each measuring 18" long. Essentially a Negro League pair, pitcher has an early baseball in his hand and the batter his favorite bat. Very tough to find in this version and in such stellar condition. EX-MT.
