Truly epic. One of the pantheon pieces of sports memorabilia. New York Yankees home pinstripe uniform from one of the Big Four; Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle and yes, Joe DiMaggio. We present for your approval, an actual Joe DiMaggio home pinstripe complete uniform worn by Joltin’ Joe in his transcendent career. Uniforms of this import only come around once in a great while. A uniform of this quality and yes perfection, only a couple of times in a lifetime. Here is one of the finest Joe DiMaggio uniforms in the world, the existence of which you can count on one hand, and yes, in a specimen worthy of Cooperstown. Not only is it is a home (the pinstripes, the pinstripes) but it was worn in the electrifying season of 1951. The jersey is tagged for 1950, but it was carried over for use in the next season judging by the appearance of the American League Golden Anniversary patch on the left sleeve. This connects it to the magical season of 1951. The final season of Joe and the first for the up and coming, much heralded rookie Mickey Mantle in the lone season they shared. It represents the passing of the royal scepter baton alluding to the magical mauri of the Yankee kings in a franchise where outfielders succeeded each other in an unspoken line of coronation. Long live the King, long live DiMaggio. Stunning home uniform with the luxury of matching pants. They are all original, but for the Golden Anniversary patch which was added in 1951 for his swan song. It was later removed, with the impression of stitch marks remaining. Fortunately, the patch was added later to make it preserve its originality, by giving it the magical look of ’51. Symbolic for greatness, "NY" displays beautifully on the front as do the all original buttons. Yankee Clipper’s iconic number “5” states all we need to know on the reserve. Spalding tag is in the collar along with "Dry Clean Only" and size 44 tagging. On the front tail is embroidered "J. DiMaggio 50" a name that stops the presses. The jersey shows excellent use with only some light foxing and minor stains, not bad for living nearly three-quarters of a century on the planet. And it will still be here when we are long gone. Matching pants carry the Spalding tag in the waist along with size 40 and "Dry Clean Only" tagging. Again, the immortal "J. DiMaggio 50" makes its appearance sewn on a swatch in the waist. The uniform is graded A8 by MEARS. One of the most famous men in the world because he lived two large lives. One as a player who made us weep with his style and grace who made what we could not do, simply look easy. And as a man of the world marrying Marilyn Monroe whom he loved for the rest of his long life. That took him to that next level that brings this incredible uniform right along with it. This jersey has been photo-matched to Getty image #515248202: July 8th, 1950 when the Yankees faced the Boston Red Sox.
