He was one of the most dominant relief pitchers in baseball history, and for that Rich Gossage was enshrined into Cooperstown. Affectionately known as Goose, Gossage was not just a "closer," he was a fireman, coming into games whenever he was needed. If runners were on base and the game was in the balance, Gossage was summoned, and most often than not, recorded the save. Many of them were multiple innings, as he threw over 100 innings in relief in four different seasons. This example of his difficult Rookie Card is perfect in every respect, with a full black back.
