The 1952 Topps Look 'n See set of 135 famous people set is one of the most popular non-sport sets of all time. Issued during the first full year of Topps cards (same year as the famed 1952 baseball set), this non-sport issue was distributed in far fewer quantities, and those which survived are very difficult to find in high grade. One reason is due to the reverses, which used a "decoder" to see the hidden words. This meant extra handling of the cards. This diverse set is full of famous people throughout World History; the set includes explorers, scientists, political leaders (such as Washington, Lincoln and Churchill), writers, artists, and other notable personalities of American and world history. However, the most popular card is that of the only sports hero, Babe Ruth. The second series contains a half dozen or so cards thought to be single-printed, and are more difficult to locate. This set has remained one of the most popular post-war, non-sports issues of all time and this offering is in much higher grade than most sets which have recently traded hands. Includes: Graded Cards – PSA MINT 9: 1 card, #38 Decatur; PSA NM-MT 8: 3 cards w/#43 Eleanor Roosevelt, 57 James and 121 Zola. PSA NM 7: 10 cards w/#8 Jackson, 20 Einstein, 24 Barnum, 25 Eastman, 39 Patton, 48 Magellan, 50 Byrd, 58 Sitting Bull, 60 Hickok and 135 Dolly Madison. PSA EX-MT 6: 3 cards w/#15 Ruth, 46 Oakley and 93 Dewey. PSA EX 5: 1 card, #82 Rembrandt (NM/MT corners). Ungraded cards - #1 Roosevelt (VG/EX), 84 Caeser (NM/MT, o/c), 88 Amundsen (EX), 98 Stevenson (VG), 101 Defoe (GD/VG), 112 Rockefeller (GD/VG) and 118 Vespucci (GD). Grades 18% NM to NM/MT, 60% EX to EX/MT, 18% VG to VG/EX, 4% lesser.
