A piece of history from a historic president, this handkerchief was owned by Franklin Delano Roosevelt and comes with "FDR" monogram. There is something of a backstory to this piece, as the original request of collector Jim Schendel generated a response from his son James, dated August 28, 1961, indicating that he would send the piece but there was a delay due to a move to a new home. It was not much of a delay as James wrote just one week later, stating, "I enclose one of Father's handkerchiefs for your collection." There is also an original letter from James Roosevelt asking if Schendel would like a handkerchief to add to his collection - all of the correspondence from James is on US Congressional letterhead, as James was a representative from California. FDR was elected to four terms as Commander in Chief, presiding over some of the most seminal moments in American history.
