Offered here is a cut autograph from a check by 18th President of the United States Ulysses S. Grant, gifted from Grant's granddaughter Edith Grant Griffiths in 1970 to long-time collector Jim Schendel. The cut signature is matted with a handwritten excerpt signed by Griffiths reading, "This autograph of President U.S. Grant cut from a check, was one of several preserved for posterity by the wife of his son Frederick Dent Grant, my grandfather, (sent to Jim Schendel in 1970)." It's also accompanied by a handwritten two-page letter from Griffiths. Grant served as President from 1869-77, after being Commanding General of the Union Army in the Civil War. Comes with PSA LOA.
