This is an engaging pen-and-ink of Frank Leahy, the man who replaced Knute Rockne, honored during his final season with the Fighting Irish. It sports 40+ ink signatures from the entire 1953 Notre Dame team including Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Lattner who has signed on his image and is featured at the bottom as "The Only Player To Be Named To Every All-Team in 1952." Also: McBride, Bisceglia, Mangisland, Palmero, Penza, Bush, Hammer, Worden, Matz, Frasor, Schaefer,Carey, Cabral, Manrades, Heap, Schrader, Szymanski, Ready, Martell, Lemick, Hendricks, Rigali, Washington, Raich, Cook, George, Keller, Kapisch, John J__ (mgr), Hunter, Shannon & Ralph Guglielmi. Best of all the footfall itself is signed “Frank Leahy” with Notre Dame below. Essentially, it is a Frank Leahy single-signed football! Artwork is signed “Tom Gore '53.” Presented to Frank Leahy at a dinner after his return from the November 14, 1953, road game win versus North Carolina (34-14 as shown in the drawing), it meaasures 25x31". From the Gus LeDonne collection, legendary football and sports collector who passed away too soon in 2013. A top of the line buyer, Gus bought the best of the best in the early days of our hobby.
