The significance of John McGraw to the history of Major League Baseball is the thing legends are made of. Lauded as a player, he will always be remembered as a manager of the Giants, the team synonymous with his name. This magnificent felt pennant has a detailed and exceptional image of the Manager McGraw, most likely from 1913, a year the Giants played in the World Series but lost to the the Philadelphia Athletics. A recent discovery, this work of art executed in felt measures almost 30" long and is the only one known, from a recent find. Also in this auction, there is a rare example of a Philadelphia Athletics pennant from the same collection and World Series. As this pennant came with the Philadelphia A's pennant in this auction, it is quite possible both were purchased at the 1913 World Series. In NRMT condition.
