A spectacular Type I silver gelatin print, this 6.5x8.5" black & white captures one of the most versatile athletes ever, Jim Thorpe, in the 1910s during his sporadic career with the New York Giants. Coming from the 1996 Christie's auction of the Baseball Magazine archive with hologram, there is some tape on the back with a repaired tear and creasing. Baseball Magazine was THE baseball publication of the 20th century, and Thorpe is considered by many to be the best athlete of all time. He spread out his 152 games with the Giants over six seasons, accounting for the rarity of him being depicted in baseball attire.
