The Negro Leagues' Clowns franchise relocated from Cincinnati to Indianapolis in 1946 and four years later won the league championship. This matted and framed promotional poster features Nature Boy Williams and Midget Austin, it measures 10.75x16.5" and has one horizontal crease. Billed as "Baseball's #1 Show Team," the Clowns matched up with the New York Stars at Roy Gayle Park in Rockford, Illinois on Thursday, July 1, with promises of "Laughs Galore" and "Thrills Galore." The 1976 Richard Pryor-Billie Dee Williams film "Bingo Long's Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings" was loosely based on the barnstorming Indianapolis Clowns.
