His name may have been a mouthful, but Bill Wambsganss will always be remembered for the only unassisted triple play in World Series history, in Game 5 of the 1920 Fall Classic. This American League player's contract was signed by Wambsganss and features typical mailing folds with slight paper separation at the folds. The second baseman signed inside this 1923 pact in 8/10 black fountain ink: "Wm. Wambsganss." It is also signed by "E.S. Barnard," Cleveland's general manager at the time.
