It's interesting that this 1930s badge for "The Alabama Boxing & Wrestling Commission" is magnificently ornate from a period in which boxing was affected by one of the biggest economic struggles in the history of the United States. During the depression, many boxers were offered lower amounts of money and there was no World Heavyweight Champion. But this badge is beautifully constructed in gold gilt with enamel lettering and hard enamel around the applied center seal, with the impressed number 28 in the lower panel. It measures 2.875x1.5", and the back has a stout-hinged pin and roller catch. Now called the Athletic Commission, they are famous historically for their "lack of inspection." The badge is in NRMT condition.
