This extremely important and unique program belongs in a museum. Isaac Murphy began his fall from grace that day on August 26, riding champion Firenze in the Monmouth Handicap. After a disgraceful exhibition many attributed to an indulgence of Champagne, he finished last as the heavy favorite. The program also featured an advertisement for Salvator attempting to break the record of one mile. After a lengthy suspension Murphy returned to ride but never achieved anything close to his former enviable record. Excellent condition with some writing.
