An amazing piece. From Neil Leifer's personal collection, Mickey Mantle inscribed it for him personally when they produced the Upper Deck Authenticated series of limited edition Mantle signed photos by Leifer. This is a 1/1 however. Essentially an artist's proof, Mantle signed it personally for Leifer and it is a one-of-a-kind, NOT part of the series of 500. Most importantly, Mantle has added the most incredible inscription: "Neil - It's a good thing you can work a camera. You can't write worth a SHIT. You even misspelled your name on this one...Mickey Mantle." He refers to the illegible Neil Leifer signature on the edition (his typical sig) and makes a joke about misspelling something that can't really be read. Neil Leifer is one of the most important sports photographers of all time. His work for Sports Illustrated and others included the famous photo of Ali standing over Sonny Liston with fist cocked for further action (one of the most famous sports photos in history, worthy of a Pulitzer). This image is culled from Leifer's personal archive and is one of the finest ever taken of The Mick. Standing at the ready with blurred crowd establishes the perfect backdrop for this mighty slugger. The autograph is an undeniably authentic Upper Deck Authenticated and also has PSA/DNA authentication with their full letter. Overall measures 24x20" with matting. It should be noted that most of the Mantle signed expletives are forgeries copied after the few real ones such as this. Here is the opportunity to own an undeniable original.
