The legendary Olympics of the glory of Jim Thorpe. Belgium sabre fencer Gaston Salmon earned this first place medal in team epee (fencing) at the 1912 Stockholm Summer Olympics. The more than century-old relic is magnificent and roughly 1.5" wide. It comes with a plaque that reads: "La Chambrew de Commerce Francaise, De Bruxelles, A Monsieur Gaston Salmon, Chevalier De La Legion D'Honneur, 11 Aout 1935." Made of gilt silver, coin reads "Olympiska, Spelen, Stockholm" around the circumference on the backside, which also reveals the date: "1912" with "Ling" engraved on the right statue. Salmon, who was Jewish, died tragically at the young age of 39 in 1917, hence his proudest possession is offered here.
