Manufactured by Abbotwares Radio, one of the early novelty radios (Z477 model) is of a "Standing Horse." On the front is a small silver and black plaque reading "ABBOTWARES." The front features two dials, one for the volume and one for surfing the local stations. On top is a large standing horse with removable saddle and saddle blanket beautifully constructed from bronze. This piece is similar to, but also ten times rarer than, the similar version that is a clock and a radio. Gorgeous copper and bronze radio with bakelite dark sepia knobs, one for the frequency and one for the volume and on/off, but the radio does not work. These were the top prize offered in various punch board games and prominently displayed in bars and taverns at the time. Today, they remain an extremely desirable showpiece highly coveted by horse racing and radio collectors and pre-digital and microchip Americana, with undeniable history and display appeal. Magnificent patina on copper and bronze, measures 11x14"" and is in magnificent NRMT condition.
