Known as "The Elmira Express," Ernie Davis went on to become the first African-American man to capture the Heisman Trophy in 1961, but two years prior to that historic feat, the Hall of Fame halfback used this notebook in classes during his freshman year at Syracuse University. The 80-page cardboard-covered spiral-bound pad is signed twice on the cover in pen. The subject listed is "Citizenship 1B" and inside are 50+ pages of handwritten notes. Comes with LOA stating it was purchased directly from Ernie Davis' nephew, Reggie McLee. Shortly after having been drafted, Davis was diagnosed with leukemia and was tragically dead by age 23.
