He is known as the "Father of Baseball" and may be the man responsible for the game being played at an angle after drawing a diagram of a diamond back in the days of Abner Doubleday. A volunteer firefighter both in New York and Hawaii, Cartwright was presented with this Sterling silver-plated fireman's horn that is inscribed: "A token of esteem from the Members of Mechanic Engine Co. No. 2 to A.J. Cartwright Esq. Chief Engineer of the Honolulu Fire Department - Honolulu June 4th, 1859." The horn is beautifully engraved with a fleur-de-lis pattern throughout. Comes with a letter detailing its provenance from Alexander Joy Cartwright IV, as well as a photo of Cartwright holding this exact trumpet. It is in EX-MT to NRMT condition with some slight tarnishing.
