Now a century old, this printed photo is trimmed at the bottom edge and shows John Heisman's Georgia Tech team executing a play, two years before the Yellowjackets would win the National Championship. The man whose name is immortalized on the trophy given annually to the nation's top college football player wrote in 8/10 pencil: "#18 -1/2 Cut-An end run by Geo. Tech in 1912. The man hurdling is the left guard. Insert anywhere in Chaplin on offensive formation." This lot originates from the collection of John Heisman and has been passed down from his family to a close family friend and comes with a copy of the family LOA. It is in VG condition and bares historical significance. Heisman material is scarce and his writing and signature are almost non-existent, making this a primo item.
