This is an extremely early New York Yankee World Series black bat, commemorating the World Championship of 1937. It features facsimile signatures of the respective team members incised in the wood, including Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio, (Gehrig is a bit scuffed). World Series black bats produced in the 1930s are rare and sought after. Hillerich & Bradsby first began the practice of issuing World Series black bats in 1934; therefore this represents the second time that Yankees black bats were ever produced. These were only available to players and organizational staff members from each participating World Series team. Signatures are incised in gold, against the black of the bat, which is very striking. Just two of the facsimile signatures are scuffed and the overall condition is EX-MT.
