The finest Jeffries signed piece of any kind we have ever offered, this magnificent oversized cabinet photo measures a stunning 11" x 8 1/8". Luscious, first generation image itself is 5" x 7" and as clear and pure as the rising sun, the legendary pugilist is standing arrogantly as champion with the belt he left behind upon retirement. Dated 1909, he is back and ready to take on World Heavyweight Champion Jack Johnson. Infamously billed as the "Great White Hope," he has elegantly signed it "To F.W. North From Jas. J. Jeffries." There is a light brown spot in the mount which does not affect the photo. A few minor creases in the border and repaired tear in corner, otherwise excellent. A Jeffries autograph this early and on a piece of this quality is incredibly rare. A piece worth fighting for.
