Ghostzapper's brilliance was on display every time he stepped foot on the track. Statistically one of the fastest horses of all time, Ghostzapper won nine of 11 races in his brief but legendary Hall of Fame career, registering some of the highest Beyer Speed Figures ever recorded. It wasn't until his last race, however - in the 2004 Breeders Cup Classic - that Ghostzapper silenced all his critics who maintained he was just an often-injured sprinter. Despite "Zapper" carrying an amazing streak of wins into the race, returning Breeders' Cup champ Pleasantly Perfect went off at almost identical odds. But those odds didn't matter, as Ghostzapper led the entire way, pulling away in the stretch to a 3-length victory. The final time of 1:59.02 set a new track record and Breeders' Cup Classic record that still stands today. This white saddle cloth with black trim, lettering and #2 is from the final race of his career: the 2005 Metropolitan Handicap, during which Ghostzapper once again showed his amazing turn of foot, winning the race in hand.
