Women's basketball was alive in well in the Roaring '20s, as this championship team photo proves. Housed in an original art-deco frame, the painted cartouche (note photograph) celebrates the Newman-Stern World Champions, who pose with a huge trophy perched alongside their great early sneakers. Newman-Stern was a famous Cleveland-based sporting goods store chain and this team was likely one of its successful promotional ventures. The 16" x 14" frame is like new and this is a tremendous early sign of gender equity.
