The Pittsburgh Pirates captured the first of their five World Series championships in 1909, outlasting the Detroit Tigers in seven games to achieve the feat. Here are two artifacts from that Fall Classic, one of which has an actual scoring grid (scored) on the front and is is dated from Pittsburg on Oct. 9, 1909 (postmarked on the verso is from the same date). The second postcard features a "DETROIT" felt pennant attached. It is dated Nov. 2nd, 1909 on the front in ink, while the back is also written on. Both are VG but for the writing.
