Hall of Fame Cardinal Red Schoendienst has spent practically his entire 91-year life in a Cardinals uniform. The former second baseman, manager and coach acquired a multitude of memories and mementos over the decades, and thousands of them are included in this spectacular lot, which is enough to start a museum, and come straight from his personal collection. They include: artwork including some vintage material by noted St. Louis cartoonist Amadee Wohlschlager; an oil painting of Red by Chris Sherry; some of Red's baseball cards; lots of paperwork including scouting reports and letters to Red; greeting cards sent to Red, many from when he was ill; signatures of Red, Stan Musial, Pepper Martin and many more; photos including those of Red, Musial and many other Cardinals; many vintage snapshots of Red and his family; hundreds of vintage newspaper clippings; scrapbooks; material from the Baseball Hall of Fame; magazines, roster guides, programs and yearbooks; souvenirs, coins, cards, Cardinal giveaway items; lineup cards; resolutions in Red's name; postcards; proof copy of his autobiography: "Red, A Baseball Life"; awards in the form of plaques, some of which were awarded by the BBWAA, including a star from the St. Louis Walk of Fame; five pairs of Cardinals pants (coaches), stirrups and a jersey from 1995; large photos and posters (some signed by the likes of Red and Musial); number "2" retired number banner from the Stadium; World Series programs including 1930; an original drawing of Red's restaurant and much, much, much more. The overall condition of the items is EX with some better and some worse.
