Tony Zale was born on May 29, 1913 in Gary, Indiana. He won the NBA Middleweight Title on July 19, 1940 from Al Hostak. On November 28, 1941 he won the vacant World Middleweight Title in a bout with Georgie Abrams. Zale is best remembered for his historic fights with Rocky Graziano. We offer here a rare and important boxing award won by Tony Zale for his amateur participation in the 1933 A.A.U. championships. The award consists of two generic fighters on a wooden base with a metal plaque which reads, "SR. A.M.A. Of The A.A.U. Boxing Championships 1933 Won By Tony Zale." The award was made by Balfour. 18x4.5x 7" (high) with some scuffing of the plaque. Early career awards of great champions are extremely rare.
