One of the toughest Hall of Fame jerseys of this era, this is a smashing specimen. Fresh to the market and from a top shelf 50-year collection, this is the first time it has seen the light of day in decades. The gray road jersey has "Detroit" in black felt sewn on the front and sports Kell's famous number "21" in black felt sewn on the back. It is original, as is everything else on this jersey. There's a MacGregor Size 42 tag in the collar, and sewn inside is a "Set 1 1949" flag tag. There is literally tons of use, just as you would want it. The only defects are minor: it is missing one button and has had three replaced. Also, some brown staining and rust stains in the collar from hangers. Accompanying it is Kell's original game-used cap that came with the jersey originally and is guaranteed as Kell's It is a pro model with no identifiers except for provenance and common sense. The home-style cap is era appropriate, with leather band and orange "D" on front. George Kell was a 10-time All-Star, batting over .300 nine times as well as being a top defensive third baseman. He won the batting title on the last day in 1949, denying Ted Williams his third Triple Crown. He went on to a 40-year Hall of Fame broadcasting career, ensuring his baseball legacy.
