From 1929 to 1993, George Brace photographed over 10,000 baseball players in his hometown of Chicago, immortalizing his subjects on celluloid whenever they happened to drop by Wrigley Field or Comiskey Park. These two volumes include intriguing correspondence - mostly handwritten - from many of those players throughout the decades requesting photos. Some of the players are long-forgotten, such as: Dolly Konwinski, Jose Azcuis, Donald Gutteridge, William DeWitt III, Howard Judson, Robert Keely, Ernest Kish, Louis Klimchock, Lefty Lefebvre, Daniel Litwhiler, Bob Loane, Leonard Merullo, Albert Milnar, Robert Morgan, Dale Murphy, James Outlaw, Sam Perlozzo, Rusty Peters, Al Pilarcik, Bob Poser, Danny Reynolds, Richard Cully, Jimmy Schaffer, Ted Sepkowski, Bob Shirley, Fred Suigton, David Shangstad, James Small, Dan Spillner, Virgil Trucks, Vito Valentinetti, John Welaj, Bob Welch, William Werber, Stan Wrobel, Eddie Yost, Tony Pisak, Eddie Soviero, Ted Sundin, Albert Aber, Joseph Abreu, George Alusik, Rinaldo Ardizoin, Louis Blair, Wilbur Bohm, Henry Boyles, Joseph Brovia, George Burpo, Jeff Byrd, Bruce Campbell, William Clark, Gil Coan, John Conlan, Billy Cowan, Dennis Dalton, Harold Daniels, George Dockins, Clem Dreisewerd, Darcy Fast, Tom Ferrick, Leslie Fleming, Hilly Flitcraft, Wayne Garrett, James Gleeson, Oscar Grimes, Mel Harder, Val Heim, Joe Henderson, Vern Holtgrave, Fred Honeycutt and Gil Hopkins. There are other personal letters included here, including one from the publisher of The Sporting News and others from various baseball executives, including Charles Comiskey.
