And the steamrolling Bengals found themselves with baseball's best record of 98-64 heading into the ALCS against the lightly regarded Minnesota Twins, who emerged from an extremely weak West Division with a pedestrian 85-77 record. But in five quick games, the upstart Twins eliminated Detroit and stunned St. Louis for their first-ever World Series championship at the ear-splitting MetroDome.
