Joe Louis was born on May 13, 1914 in Lafayette, Alabama. On June 22, 1937 and won the World Heavyweight Title from James J. Braddock. Louis held the title longer than any heavyweight in history. His notable victories included Max Schmeling, Max Baer, Billy Conn, Jersey Joe Walcott, Jack Sharkey and Primo Carnera.He retired after losing to Rocky Marciano on October 26, 1951. His final record was 63-3. Offered here is a souvenir clock of Joe Louis that dates to the late 1930s after he won the heavyweight title. This bronze clock has a wonderful likeness of Louis at the top. Under the clock is engraved, "JOE LOUIS WORLD CHAMPION." This was made by United. A few minor rubs and spotting. Wire is frayed. Presents very well. 12.5" high.
