Jack Johnson fought Fireman Jim Flynn on July 4, 1912 in Las Vegas in defense of his heavyweight title. Johnson was awarded the victory by TKO in round 9. The referee repeatedly warned Flynn for head-butting and the fight film shows Flynn was guilty, apparently trying to get loose while the taller Johnson constantly held him at the back of his upper arms. Flynn reportedly hurled racial epithets at Johnson, too. The sheriff climbed into the ring to stop this bout. Presented here is a promo photo picturing Jack Curley (promoter of the fight), "Fireman" Jim Flynn and Jack Johnson. It is a bold, clear image, not creased or torn. The 12.5" x 16" photo is in an oak frame of 21" x 24." A wonderful souvenir from this controversial fight.
