The only All-Star Game ever shortened by rain occurred in 1952 at Philadelphia's Shibe Park. After five full innings of play, the National League led the American League, 3-2, and that would turn out to be the final score as the skies opened and a long downpour ensued. These two official National League (Giles) baseballs commemorate that unorthodox game and are in EX-MT+ condition. One ball features 27 signatures while the other boasts 25, with "1952" also inscribed on each. Among the key names are: Jackie Robinson, Enos Slaughter, Gil Hodges, Duke Snider, Carl Furillo, Stan Musial, Ralph Kiner, Pee Wee Reese, Leo Durocher, Red Shoendienst, Warren Spahn, Satchel Paige, Larry Doby, Mickey Mantle, Nellie Fox, Casey Stengel, Bob Lemon and Phil Rizzuto, The signatures in ink average 7.5/10 with a few that have faded a bit more.
