Though it sounds like a misnomer, the World Series of Basketball was a legitimate, 20-game series played between the Harlem Globetrotters and the nation's best college seniors. This 18"-tall trophy was awarded to one of the 1961 Series MVPs, Joe Buckhalter who played for the NBA's Cincinnati Royals, as well as the Trotters, in 1961. The trophy is in EX condition and its plaque reads: "1961 MOST VALUABLE PLAYER WORLD SERIES OF BASKETBALL HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS WON BY JOE BUCKHALTER, JR." Comes with a 1961 letter to Buckhalter from the series director informing him that he was the MVP and that the award would be shipped under separate cover. The series would end the following year with no record of who won the MVP.
