A simply elegant Gorham Sterling silver dish won at Belmont Park in New York. The Mother Goose was a race that was part of the "Triple Tiara" or the filly triple crown race series. The trophy was won by Cicada, the 1962 Kentucky Oaks Winner ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Willie Shoemaker. A rare, vintage award relating to one of the all time greatest Jockeys and horses, the engraving on the top reads: "NEW YORK RACING ASSOCIATION - THE MOTHER GOOSE - BELMONT PARK - 1962 - WON BY MEADOW STABLES CICADA - JOCKEY: WILLIE SHOEMAKER." Cicada The dish weighs 28 oz and measures 10.5" x 7.5". Cicada was never out of the money in her sixteen starts as a two-year-old, winning 11 of those races and establishing a new record for earnings by a filly.
