This New York Knicks jersey was given to former player Ossie Schectman as part of the NBA's 50th anniversary festivities during the 1996-1997 season. Schectman, who signed the jersey's orange number 6 underneath his last name on the back, is best known for scoring the first points in NBA history on November 1, 1946. He commemorates this accomplishment by inscribing the date and "First Basket in NBA" in thick, black Sharpie underneath his signature. Though Schectman played just one season for the Knicks, his name comes up whenever a milestone point total is reached in the NBA.
