The legend of "Broadway Joe" Namath began in the Big Apple with the New York Jets' first game at Shea Stadium on September 18, 1965. That was the day Namath first took the field and threw his first AFL touchdown pass to Don Maynard. Namath did not play in the first game of the season, a week earlier in Houston.
