Considered one of the true influential giants of jazz music, this is the first authentic autographed Coltrane piece that we have offered (or even seen for that matter). John Coltrane (1923-67) has a career that spans the history of modern jazz. From his early days with Dizzy Gillespie's Big Band, he moved on to an amazing collaboration with trum-peter Miles Davis and later Thelonious Monk. He not only participated in the seminal Davis sessions Milestones and Kind Of Blue, but also recorded his own influential Giant Steps, the album you see here. His "hit" recording with Atlantic My Favorite Things helped bring highbrow jazz to the masses. His Arrica/Brass sessions and his amazing quartet with Tyner, Jones Workman & Dolphy led to con-siderable controversy and further greatness. He reached his prodigious peak in 1964-65 with the classics A Love Supreme, Meditations and Ascension. Sadly, Coltrane died of liver disease on July 17, 1967 at the tender age of forty, leaving behind legacy that not only affected jazz music, but all of the music industry. Condition of the album is EX to EX-MT and the autograph is NRMT-MT. Comes with LOA.
