An incredible piece of United States college hockey history is offered here in this over 100-year old sweater. The Big Green began ice hockey in 1905-06 in Hanover, New Hampshire. This dark green wool sweater is in museum-worthy condition with a white felt “D” (Dartmouth) sewn on the front with two hockey sticks crossed behind it with smaller “H” and “T” (Hockey Team) felt letters sewn on each side of the “D.” The collar of this turtleneck sweater is folded over and offered added warmth in the early 20th century. The cuffs, collar, and hem are in terrific condition with no fraying and solid stitching still intact. Inside the back hem is a James. W. Brine Co. Athletic Supplies – College Outfitters – Cambridge, Mass. tag. One of the earliest hockey sweaters known to exist and given its condition, this sweater is worthy of any Hall of Fame display!
