Two years before the famed "Black Sox" scandal, the Chicago White Sox carried a 100-win season into their World Series showdown with the New York Giants. This program is from the sixth and final game of that series, a 4-2 victory for Chicago at New York's Polo Grounds. The cover depicts President Woodrow Wilson throwing out the first ball on Opening Day. The program is in Good condition with a chip on the cover. It is lightly (and very neatly) scored in pencil, with the accompanying advertisement referring to World War I, which was in progress at the time. A little-known fact about the 1917 series is that Jim Thorpe made his only World Series "appearance" in Game 5, though someone pinch-hit for him in the top of the first inning.
