From famed illustrator Burris Jenkins, Jr. comes this impressive collection of football artwork. Jenkins, the son of a fiery Protestant minister, came to be widely regarded as one of the top sports cartoonists in the course of his 35-year career. Through heavy lines and stunning detail, he displays his craftsmanship in these 11 pieces. The lot includes: About to Bust (signed), Jumping the Guns (1943), Unnecessary Roughness (1949), If Today were Tuesday (1940, signed), Come to Papa (signed), The Empty Bowl (1946), Interception (1947, signed), Down in a Blaze of Gloria (1932, signed), The Survival of the Fittest, Safest Year in History (1936), The Mouse Trap (signed). Mostly in VG-EX condition, some of the pieces have publishing marks and chipping of some the corners.
